Dolomites, Italy
Wonderful view at the top of a morning hike in the Dolomites.
Waterfall in the Dolomites
It was exceptionally bright out and mid day at the time I took this image, ordinarily not the time to take a long exposure. Fortunately, I had a 10 stop variable ND filter for my camera and with my tripod I was able to capture thislovel waterfall.

Views for days at the top of a hike in the Dolomites, Italy.
Dolomites black and white panorama.
These are the "Croda peaks" which are above Croda Del Lago. The Dolomites are uniquely sharp because they are geologically young and the points have not been worn down yet by erosion.
Refugio near the base of Tre Cime
Tre Cime is just to the right and out of frame form this shot. I love how the trails Bring the eye into the photograph and into the distant peaks.
Tre Cime
Tre Cime is a massive rock formation in the Dolomites. How big you ask, look closely at the people at the bottom of the photo. There are many wonderful hikes and rock climbs around Tre Cime and several wonderful Refugios where you can stop for a break and some food and water.
View of Tre Cime from a distance
To get a sense of scale, look at the tiny human on the trail on the bottom left of the screen. There are many wide trails to take near here and there are many narrow trails for the more adventurous. There are also some terrific Via Ferratas in this area (chains you can grab and hike up a hill).
Refugio in the Dolomites
The Dolomites have wonderful hiking and have lodges or Refugios sprinkled throughout the region. It's a wonderful and relaxing way to hike because you can stop and have an espresso, or a glass of wine or strudel and use the rest room and fill up your water very easily.
Italian Dolomites
I love the sharp points and ridges of this view. It was around a corner at the end of a 5-6 hour hike and it took my breath away when I saw it.
A view from a water Taxi in Venice.
The colors in Venice are wonderful, particularly at sunset when the warm colors are highlighted by the setting sun.
Rome, Italy. The Coliseum is in the distance
Rome is incredible for historical architecture. Every where you look there are ruins that are thousands of years old. We toured the Coliseum and the newly opened subterranean area in the Coliseum which was a lot of fun. Had to watch Gladiator on the way home.
