Violence Transformed Into Art - Victor Hugo Zayas Exhibition at the Laguna Art Museum
Recently I have had the pleasure of photographing the work of Victor Hugo Zayas. Victor has been a dynamic presence in the Los Angeles art community for over 25 years. I photographed the process of transforming guns seized by LAPD, as they were transported to a grinding site, ground down, and transformed by Victor into sculptures. Working with Victor is truly a pleasure, and his passion is evident to all who meet him.
Victor's work was displayed at the Laguna Art Museum in Laguna Beach in 2012. The exhibit, "Mi Obra," featured Victor's amazing paintings and sculptures. Fifteen of my images were published in the museum catalog "Mi Obra" created for the show. The catalog can be purchased at the museum or via the museum's web site. http://lagunaartmuseum.org/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=538
