Here you can see the progression of my lighting technique from 2010-2016. Keep improving and keep striving to improve your technique. Many photographers won't show their earlier work, but I'm not ashamed. Photography takes practice and effort.
L.A.'s South Bay
Images of L.A's South Bay: Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach San Pedro and Torrance.
This one of my early favorite landscape images. It taught me to always have my camera with me. Caught this image out of the corner of my eye driving after a storm. I jumped out of my car and ran to photograph the amazing clouds and light.
A rolling wave provides the way into a dark landscape of Manhattan Beach, California. Look closely for the six surfers and the helicopter. The Hermosa Beach Pier is in the background. This image is currently on display at the Torrance Art Museum in Torrance California.
This is a 60x20 panorama of the Palos Verdes Cove, famous to surfers all over Southern California. This is an unusually calm shot where you can see the green in the ocean. In the winter this can be one of the only spots in the South Bay to surf when the waves get double overhead. The natural boundaries of the cove cut the wave sides off and make for a beautiful ride of well over 100 yards.
Not too bad for December 4th! This is why we pay the sunshine tax in Southern California, you can surf in December and enjoy these luscious, warm sunsets. There is just something about the winter light in So. Cal. Canon 7DMkII | Tamron 70-200
Hikers on the jetty, and boaters return to the Redondo Beach Harbor with the beautiful fall sunsets that are amazing in Los Angeles. I love the fall and winter light, it has a different and special quality than the summer sunsets. Tamron 35 mm f/1.8, Canon 7D Mk II.
