Camera geek stats: image taken at 500 mm with the Tamron 150-600 lens, and a Canon 7D. Given the 1.6 crop factor on the 7D the image is an 800 mm equivalent. The compression effect with the zoom brings the Hermosa, Redondo and PV hills closer.
The Hollywood Hills are world-famous and any collection of images on Los Angeles would not be complete with out an image of the Hollywood sign. I like the perspective that the Cessna provided at sunrise.
Torrance Beach is on the southern end of the "strand" bike path which extends north to Santa Monica, CA. Torrance Beach has wonderful ocean views from Palos Verdes all the way to Malibu. This image looks south at Palos Verdes on December of 2015.
The sun streaming underneath the lifeguard tower caught my eye....
This is a 60x20 panorama of the Palos Verdes Cove, famous to surfers all over Southern California. This is an unusually calm shot where you can see the green in the ocean. In the winter this can be one of the only spots in the South Bay to surf when the waves get double overhead. The natural boundaries of the cove cut the wave sides off and make for a beautiful ride of well over 100 yards.
