View of the South Bay, Photographed from Torrance Beach
This day I was primarily after long exposure photographs. This image at 1/10th of second at f/22 was the exception. You can see Redondo Bech, Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach all the way to El Porto in this image.
Redondo Beach Pier, January 20th, 2017.
Stormy weather, a rarity in Southern California, drenched Redondo Beach and brought powerful waves to the Redondo Beach Pier. The waves were so powerful that the pier shook when the waves hit. Canon 7D Mk ii | Tamron 16-300.
Black and White Long Exposure Photograph, Torrance Beach, Torrance CA.
A 79 second exposure at f/11 during a rare Southern California storm. I love the motion of the clouds. I struggled to keep the lens free of waterspots during the downpours that started and stopped this day.
Bison, Morning Fog, Yellowstone National Park
After staying up literally the entire night photographing stars we were driving back to our hotel when we saw this thick fog bank in a Yellowstone meadow. I jumped out of the car to capture this image with a bison in the fog. I love the solitude in the image.
Sunrise Lake Louise, 30 second exposure and wispy clouds.
In this shot, I used a fotodiox 10 stop ND filter to allow a 30 second capture in order to capture the cloud movement without blowing out the highlights. Canon 7D Mk2, Tamron 15-30, Manfrotto befree tripod. One of the greatest things about photography is the people you meet. While out on the trail in the early morning I met a sherpa from Nepal who came to Banff to hike the ice waterfalls.
Child and accordion player, Paris.
On my way up to the Sacre-Couer I strolled the streets of Montmartre, once the center of Parisian artist life. To be honest, I was having a hard time capturing a photograph that I liked. The neighborhood was adorable, but touristy, and nothing stood out to me as particularly photo worthy. I was frustrated. I waited and looked around, and looked some more. Suddenly this scene unfolded in front of me. The decisive moment.
This incredible view of Lake Agnes can be seen by hiking an hour or so up from Lake Louise to the "Tea House," which is open in the summertime. I love the way the light subtely comes over the peaks of the mountains and reflects on the snow below. I didn't dare walk out onto the lake, but you can see the tracks of small animals that did in the foreground.
The many layers in this shot captured my eye. The train tracks, river and trees lead into the dark layer of low clouds, the mountain peaks, and then the upper clouds. It was a majestic view, and completely quiet, which I loved. I hiked about 100' down the side of a hill to get this shot, sadly, I lost my Tamron 16-300 on the hike back up when it fell out of my jacket pocket, tumbled down the hillside and hit a rock at the bottom. I should have used my camera strap...always carry a back up camera and lens when traveling. I did and it allowed me to contineu shooting.
